This project began in a uniquely organic way, when the homeowner—midway through working with another design team that did not
align with their personal style—happened to pass by the B Moore Design showroom. What followed was an initial two-hour in-home
consultation that quickly evolved into a full-scale renovation, grounded in a renewed sense of trust, clarity, and shared design vision.
The property, a classic Brooklyn brownstone, was configured with the family residing across the garden and parlor floors, while the
upper levels remained rental units—a layout typical of many historic New York City townhomes. The design required a thoughtful and
highly refined approach to both architectural integrity and modern livability. From the entry at the garden level through to the parlor floor
above, the flow of the home was carefully reimagined to move seamlessly through a deep floor plan. Each space was designed with
intention, including a welcoming entry sequence, a formal dining room, a fully customized kitchen with an intimate dining area, and
private living quarters that included a nursery, primary bedroom, guest bedroom, and a dedicated writer’s office. Architectural detailing
played a significant role, ensuring that every intervention complemented the home’s historic character while supporting the family’s daily
lifestyle.
The final design layered transitional furnishings, tailored window treatments, and carefully selected lighting to enhance the richness of
the original architecture while introducing a fresh, livable perspective. The result is a home that feels both timeless and deeply
personal—one that reflects the client’s aesthetic while honoring the history of the space. The client’s response to the completed
home—from final selections through move-in—was one of true connection and satisfaction, marking the project as both a design
success and a meaningful collaboration.
